Product Overview
The 1771-DCM is a Direct Communication Module in the Allen-Bradley 1771 (PLC-5) platform. It enables point-to-point data exchange between a supervisory processor and a local processor using Remote I/O protocol. It supports discrete transfers (up to 7 words plus 1 status word) or block transfers (up to 63 words plus 1 status word) over serial communication at configurable baud rates. The 1771-DCM installs in a standard 1771 I/O chassis and facilitates inter-processor communication within industrial control systems.
Best Suited For
- Connecting supervisory (adapter) PLC-5 to local processor over RIO
- Discrete word-level data sharing (e.g. status flags)
- Block data transfers of control parameters
- Legacy PLC-5 systems requiring processor-to-processor communication
