What is the condition of your surplus PLCs? +

All items sold by PLC Department are listed under the blanket condition: "Surplus – Tested (With Warranty)"

Definition:
"Surplus – Tested (With Warranty)" refers to surplus industrial automation equipment that has been inspected and tested for functionality by PLC Department technicians and verified to be in working condition.

"Surplus" can include items that are:

  • New Surplus: Unused items that may have been stored for an extended period or removed from inventory without ever being installed.
  • Used Surplus: Previously installed or used items that have been tested and verified to function properly.
  • Refurbished Surplus: Items that have undergone repair, reconditioning, or component replacement to restore functionality.

All surplus items may exhibit minor cosmetic wear such as surface marks, discoloration, or light scratches due to storage, handling, or prior use. Original manufacturer packaging, accessories, and documentation may not be included unless specified.

Each item sold as "Surplus – Tested (With Warranty)" is backed by PLC Department's 1-year functional warranty, covering mechanical defects or failures not caused by human factors.

By purchasing from PLC Department, the buyer acknowledges and accepts that all items are sold as Surplus – Tested (With Warranty) products — not represented as new from the manufacturer, but verified to be in tested, working condition at the time of sale.

Products Purchased from PLC Department - What can I expect? +

PLC Department specializes in selling surplus and refurbished products obtained from various sources. Any warranties and support for these products, if available, come from PLC Department and not the manufacturer.

PLC Department is not an official distributor or agent for any of the listed manufacturers and does not guarantee the quality control performed by them.

The products listed on the website may differ in their country of origin, accompanying accessories and language used on packaging, parts and related instructions or material.

This website is not endorsed or approved by any listed manufacturer or trademark. All trademarks, designated names and brands mentioned are the property of their respective owners.

How do I know if a surplus PLC is compatible with my system? +

Before purchasing a surplus PLC, it is important to ensure that it is compatible with your system. You can check the specifications of the PLC and compare it with the requirements of your system.

How often are new surplus PLCs added to your inventory? +

Warranty & Returns

Do you provide a warranty with your surplus PLCs? +

Yes, all PLC Department products sold come with a standard 1 year warranty through PLC Department and not the original manufacturer.

Does my purchase come with a Product Warranty? +

PLC Department issues a 1-year warranty for all its products, which begins from the date of purchase. This warranty covers mechanical defects or failures not caused by human factors, including but not limited to incorrect installation, operating the unit under unfavorable conditions or in scenarios not recommended by the manufacturer, poor maintenance, etc. However, the warranty does not extend to programming or software-related issues.

Warranty Process:

If a customer encounters a problem with their eligible product and wants to take advantage of the PLC Department's warranty coverage, they will need to ship the item to PLC Department for examination and diagnosis.

If the issue was caused by human factors, PLC Department will provide a repair or replacement quote and the customer will be responsible for the shipping costs for the repaired/replaced unit.

If the issue was not caused by human factors and falls within the warranty coverage, PLC Department will repair or replace the unit at their expense and will bear the shipping costs of sending the repaired/replaced unit back to the customer. The decision to repair, replace, or refund is at the discretion of PLC Department.

Please note that diagnoses may take time based on technician availability and the complexity of the diagnosis.

Liability:
PLC Department will not be liable for any damages, except actual damages up to but not exceeding the amount paid for the product, and will not be responsible for any indirect or consequential damages or lost profits, regardless of whether they have been advised of such damages.

What is the return policy for surplus PLCs? +

We have a 30 day return policy for surplus units. If you are not satisfied with your purchase, you can return the units within 30 days for a full refund.

What is the lead time for delivery? +

Lead time for delivery varies depending on your location and the availability of the unit you have ordered. On average, it takes 2-5 business days for delivery.

Software & Technical

What about Software and Firmware? +

PLC Department offers a variety of products, some of which come with pre-installed firmware or software, while others come without. If you require specific firmware or software, please contact PLC Department at contact@plcdepartment.com before making a purchase.

At this time, PLC Department cannot provide information on the installed firmware or software unless requested before the order is placed. It is the customer's responsibility to ensure compliance with the terms of any applicable license or agreement related to downloading, installing, or using the firmware.

PLC Department makes no representation as to the customer's ability or right to download, obtain, or use any firmware or software provided by the product's manufacturer, and does not guarantee that the installed firmware is appropriate for the customer's needs or use unless requested in advance.

PLC Department is not an authorized distributor, reseller, or representative of any of the products listed on its website. All product names, trademarks, brands, and logos are the property of their respective owners.

PLC Department makes no representations as to whether a PLC product will come with firmware, what revision level the firmware is, or the customer's ability or right to download or obtain firmware from the manufacturer, its distributors, or any other source.

The customer is responsible for complying with the terms of any End-User License Agreement or similar document related to obtaining or installing firmware. PLC Department will not be responsible for software and programming issues unless they are directly caused by the hardware purchased from PLC Department.

Additionally, PLC Department will not obtain or supply firmware on behalf of the customer.

How do I install and set up a PLC? +
